Track season is around the corner. We decided to do some comparisons of the top distance runners in Texas. We used the Mercier Scoring Tables to assign points to each performance adding the personal bests for both 1600 and 3200. We will do the same with 8/16 to find the best middle distance runners. We will also do the girls and finally the Mercier point system allows for you to compare genders so I will do a compilation of boys and girls.

Strake Jesuit claimed a whopping 22 boys state cross country championships in the now-defunct Texas Christian Interscholastic League from 1972 to 2002. The Crusaders have yet to claim their first crown since joining the University Interscholastic League in 2004. [...] Stake Jesuit - one of only two private schools in the UIL - could be close to making history this fall. The Crusaders' runner-up finish behind Southlake Carroll was no fluke. Strake Jesuit won its first three meets - Spring, Lamar Consolidated and La Porte Battleground. At last week's Humble ISD Region III Preview at Atascocita, the Crusaders finished second behind The Woodlands. Kerley has been thrilled with the effort so far, considering he rested junior R.J. Here are the Heat Sheets for the Texas Tech Invitational held on 4/12.

The 4th ranked Cedar Park Boys team put 5 runners in the top 27 overall to earn the Nike South Team victory over #1 ranked The Woodlands (3rd 124), Southlake Carroll ranked #3 (4th 159) and #2 Georgetown (5th 163).  On the girls side, Kingwood H.S. won the team race over a strong the Woodlands squad, racing to the win in grand fashion.
