Boys Small School Race

#4 Freeport should be a top 5 team overall, as the defending Class B state champions look to continue their success this fall. Despite narrow losses the last 2 weeks to #1 Falmouth & #3 York, The Falcons are still one of the top teams in Maine.

Freeport is lead by one of the best 1-2 punches in the state with senior Chandler Vincent & junior Henry Jacques. Vincent is coming off 2 wins in a row, and has clocked a best time of 16:37 on the season. Jacques isn't too far back with a best of 16:49 coming last week at Wells.

The Falcons also have Eric Brobst who is one of the best #3 runners in the state having clocked 17:14 this fall. For Freeport to win though they'll need a #5 runner, sine the opening meet they haven't had a runner under 19 minutes.

#6 ranked Greely should be one the top Maine teams in the small school race. The Rangers are coming off their finest performance of the season on their home course at Twin Brook, where they had 3 under 18 minutes. Leading the way individually for Greely this fall has been Ryan Morrison who clocked a home course personal best last week of 17:18. Morrison figures to be one of the top individuals in the race. Greely will need a big day from Kyle Hansen & Max Stickney, who both ran under 18 minutes last week for the Rangers to be one of the top teams.

No question sophomore Luke Laverdiere is one of the individual favorites in the race. Laverdiere clocked a state leading 16:09 a week ago on his home course at Pratt's Brook. Luke is undefeated on the year, and has been running away unchallenged in each race No question Luke will be looking for that first sub 16 performance, and Saturday could be that day.

Another individual to watch for is Fryeburg Academy senior Patrick Carty who is off to another strong start to his season. Carty is coming off a sub 17 performance on his home course a week ago where he ran 16:55. A year ago Carty placed 21st in the race, and came back to finish 3rd at the Class B state meet later in the year.
