Manchester Invitational Preview

Girls Small School Race

Greely the #5 ranked team in the state will be looking to defend their small school title as the Rangers took the win a year ago behind a runner-up individual finish of Katherine Leggat-Barr. Leggat-Barr hasn't been 100% healthy this fall as she has been battling a case of plantar fasciitis. She'll be facing off against the defending individual champion Megan Doody of Oyster River, Doody has Maine ties with her dad an alumnus of Scarborough.

While sophomore Izzy Eavns is studying abroad this year, freshman Carolyn Todd has stepped right in and done an excellent job. Last week at Twin Brook Todd clocked a 20:44 just 3 seconds back of Leggat-Barr. Greely's 3-5 runners were separated by just 21 seconds last week, that gap will be important in the team race on Saturday.

The #3 ranked Yarmouth Clippers will be one of the the top teams in the race as well. The Clippers are undefeated on the season, and have been led by Abby Hamilton who will be one to watch for the individual title as well. Hamilton has run unbeaten all fall with a fastest time of 19:29. Yarmouth has a strong 1-2 punch with Anneka Murrin joining Hamilton, Murrin has broken 20 minutes this fall with a best of 19:57. If Grace Cowles can return to last year's top form Yarmouth will be tough to beat.

Individually look for Kent's Hill senior Anne McKee who missed the race a year ago due to injury, to excel, when healthy as a sophomore she placed 4th on the small school race with a 19:31 performance. The Fryeburg duo of Emily Carty & Anna Lastra will be looking to make some noise as well. Carty is coming off a personal best and state leading 19:28 effort on her home course, while Lastra ran state #4 19:39.

Girls Large School Race

The #7 ranked Massabesic Mustangs will run in the large school race once again.
