Salute To Seniors: Cassie Kruse - Hampshire

Salute To Seniors: Cassie Kruse - Hampshire

What was your most memorable race?

My sophomore year of track, my 4x800 relay team and I won the state championship by .006 seconds.

What would you consider your biggest competition?

Any of the competition at the state cross country and track and field meets.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?
My junior year of cross country (my second season) I took 8th in the State cross country meet. I dropped 1:14 off my best time from the previous year of cross country and it was my first trip to the state meet. I had no idea what to expect but I raced my hardest and came away with an 8th place finish.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I wouldn’t change anything!

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

I went through two injuries my senior year of track, after never being injured before, and I had to face the fact that I wouldn’t be running on the blue track my senior year.  Of course I still came to every practice and meet to cheer on my team!

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my teammates and my coach. My teammates and I were all really close and my coach always believed and my team and me.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Enjoy your high school years, it goes by fast!

What are your college plans?

I will study physical education at University of New Hampshire and will run cross country and track.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I’d like to say thank you to my family, my coach, and my team, for always supporting me and believing in me.
