Your Hub For Regional-National Races This Postseason

* Apalachee Regional Park will be the home of the AAU National Cross Country Championships in 2020

In July, Team XC Nationals made the decision to cancel its national championship in Portland, Oregon. Centered around a team and national champion, the event annually decided upon the country's top program and one of the country's best runners. 

Then, in October, Foot Locker Nationals followed suit, also deciding to eliminate its national championship, seen by many as a true national-champion individual race, with only 40 participants on the line. 

However, while 2020 has been a different kind of season, many organizations have since stepped in to fill that void. In recent weeks, regional and national-level events have popped up on the calendar. Here are the ones you need to know about:

November 14-15: The XC Town USA Meet of Champions

Organized by the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation, this new meet will take place in Terre Haute, Indiana, at the LaVern Gibson Championship course, which has held the NCAA Championships. The two-day meet will feature elite and college races on Saturday and middle school, freshmen and open races on Sunday. MileSplit will be on site for coverage of the event with race videos, photos, interviews and more.

November 21: RunningLane Cross Country Championships

LIVE FINISH LINE LINK: Race Videos On MileSplit

Organized by RunningLane, this championship-style race will take place in Huntsville, Alabama, at the John Hunt Running Park -- which is the site for the The Southern Showcase, which produced the nation's second- and fifth-fastest times of the season so far. A championship boys and girls race will be held, along with middle school and community events. Along with an individual championship, the event will also score teams. MileSplit will be on site for coverage of the event with race videos, photos, interviews and more.

Nov. 28: Northeast HS Club Cross Country Championships

A meet that in many ways looks to replicate the New York Team Regional, 12thRock Sports brings this club championship race together at Twin Ponds Farm in Montgomery, New York. The organization will welcome club teams and individuals from the region (and tri-state area). The event will featured seeded, unseeded and championship races, with caps on 75 athletes for each race. MileSplit will be on site for coverage of the event with race videos, photos, interviews and more.

Nov. 28: Midwest High School Challenge Cross Country Meet

A late-entry into the postseason mix, this meet sponsored by Finish Timing, and with full coverage from MileSplit Ohio, will feature elite-level athletes from the Midwest on the Champions Park XC course in Springfield, Ohio.

December 5: Chick-Fil-A Decature Cross Country Nationals

The Jesse Owens Runners Club is organizing this meet which will take place in Decatur, Alabama, at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park course. The site is home to the Alabama state cross country champinoships and was also used by AAU in 2008 and 2015 for its national race.

December 5: AAU National Cross Country Championships

AAU is holding its annual competition in Tallahassee, Florida, at Apalachee Regional Park, a course that annually holds the Florida State Cross Country Championships and is an NCAA Championships course. Races will be broken into age groups, with high school athletes competing in the 15-18 category. MileSplit will be on site for coverage of the event with race videos, photos, interviews and more.

December 5: East Coast National Championships

The Garden State Track Club, which has been holding a series of outdoor track races this fall for high school competition, is putting together another big event on December 5 with the East Coast National Championships. Scheduled to be held at famed Holmdel Park in Holmdel, New Jersey, this race wil cap with just 125 entrants on the line in the elite race. An application form can be found here. December 5: High School Cross Country Nationals

Lubbock Christian University and Lubbock Sports will organize and hold this meet in Lubbock, Texas, at the LCU Cross Country Course. Races will include elite boys and girls section, as well as junior high races. MileSplit will be on site for coverage of the event with race videos, photos, interviews and more.

January 18: USATF Cross Country Championships

USATF is holding national championship style races at Mission Bay Park in San Diego, California. Races will include community, masters, junior (high school-aged) and senior sections.
