NJSIAA Adds Long Jump Showcase to Meet of Champions

It is finally official, the NJSIAA will be adding the long jump to its Meet of Champions Showcase events this indoor season. The announcement was presented NJ MileSplit by NJSIAA Assistant Director Bill Bruno on Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the need to open the track up for the sand pit at the Toms River Athletic Complex the long jump athletes will compete on Thursday February 21st, 2019 separate from the rest of the meet. The other events will compete on their usual dates of February 23rd and 24th.

The indoor Meet of Champions already showcases two events that aren't run at the Group Championships level, the 200m dash and 4x800m relay.

Coaches Declare Your Athlete's Intent to Compete Here

How it will work... The top 24 girls and boys who declare for the showcase on the Meet of Champions meet page will be accepted. So in other words the top 24 seeds who register for the event, anyone can register even if you rank outside the top 24 it just doesn't guarantee you'll be accepted. You must declare your intent to compete by Monday February 18th at noon. Seeds from this current winter season and last spring, 2018, will be used for seeding.

The entry fee is $14 and medals will be awarded to the top eight finishers. Please note that your athlete cannot be on another 2019 winter sports team, this is only for indoor competing athletes.
