Principe Making College Debut at Stanford Friday!

Former La Salle Academy standout DJ Principe, a Stanford University freshman, will be making his collegiate debut on Friday night.

Principe will be competing in the 1,500-meter run at this weekend's Stanford Invitational, a meet that is LIVE on Flo Track. The multiple all-stater and state record-holder is scheduled to compete in the third heat of the men's 1,500-meter run at 6:55 p.m. PST, which is 9:55 p.m. on the east coast.

It wasn't too long ago that Principe was making his mark as one of our state's most-celebrated distance runners. He was a three-time cross-country state champion and won multiple individual state crowns on the indoor and outdoor surfaces in races ranging from the 800m to 5,000m.

Principe was one of the nation's top milers last year where he came mere strides from breaking four minutes. Twice he cracked 4:01, clocking 4:00.97 at the New Balance Indoor Games in New York last January and an all-time best of 4:00.73 at the Prefontaine Classic on May 27.
