Patrick Gregory is IVY bound, commits to Dartmouth College

Butler senior Patrick Gregory has committed to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.  The 2013 Class AAA State Cross Country Champion chose the Ivy League school over NC State, University of Portland, and University of Oklahoma.

He was the best XC runner in Kentucky this past fall going undefeated against all in-state opponents.  He cranked out a XC PR of 15:14 in St. Louis on September 14th.  He won the Class AAA title with a 15:55.18.

Last May he won his first career individual state title with a 4:18.15 1600m Run.  He went onto finish 2nd in the 3200m Run as well with a 9:18.86.  His career best times of 4:13.25 for the 1600m and 9:10.45 for 3200m rank him 5th & 4th All-Time in Kentucky.

His career best 14:57.96 for 5000 meters came during his sophomore track campaign in the KYtrackXC.com 5K Showdown.

Gregory on why he selected Dartmouth:

Thanks! Of course. I visited NC State, the University of Portland, the University of Oklahoma, and Dartmouth. It took me a while to come to a decision, but what I realized was that Dartmouth would give me excellent educational opportunities while placing me with a team that could be very competitive. I believe Dartmouth will put me in an environment to grow athletically and academically while opening many doors for the future.
