Men Earn At-Large Berth to 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championship

HANOVER, N.H. – One day after finishing fifth at the Northeast Regional, the Dartmouth men's cross country team earned an at-large berth to the 2013 NCAA Championship next weekend in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Big Green qualified for the final race of the season after posting enough points in the NCAA's system for picking the final 13 teams to make the field of 31 next Saturday, Nov. 23.

After 18 teams automatically earned spots in Terre Haute with top-two finishes in the respective regionals on Friday, the 13 remaining at-large bids were awarded Saturday using a system that gave teams points base on 'wins' over other programs under consideration during regular season meets.

The men will make the trip back to nationals for the first time since 2005 with Saturday's announcement. The Dartmouth women automatically qualified after finishing its regional in second. This year will mark the first time the two Big Green cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Championship in the same year since 2001.
