It has been announced that the winners of both the Boys and Girls Seeded mile runs at the upcoming 45th annual Dartmouth Relays (January 11) will automatically qualify for the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston. The New Balance event will be held on Feb. 8 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. The meet is the citys largest annual track event, televised nationally and featuring Olympic champions as well as some of the top track athletes in the United States and from around the world.

SPIKES: Spikes may be used up to 1/4" in all events. However, given the texture and composition of the Leverone surface, we recommend that athletes use either 1/8" or 3/16"

STARTING BLOCKS: Because of time constraints during the High School events, only Dartmouth College starting blocks will be allowed and only for the 55m Dash and the 55m Hurdles. Blocks will NOT be allowed for any other High School event.

FIELD EVENTS: Field events will be seeded with the top ranked athletes competing in the last flights. The throwing circles are wooden with regulation steel rings and 3/4" plywood fitted to the outside of the rings. The throwing sectors are a synthetic surface. Only indoor implements may be used.

FIELD EVENT FINALS: In all throwing and horizontal jumping events, the top 8 competitors from the preliminary competition will brought to the finals. However, there will be NO finals for the High School Unseeded Long Jump, Unseeded Triple Jump, and Unseeded Shot Put events.

HIGH SCHOOL POLE VAULT: Section 7-5-3 of the NFHS Track and Field Rules will be strictly enforced. "The competitor's weight shall be at or below the manufacturer's pole rating. The manufacturers must include on each pole: the pole rating that shall be a minimum of 3/4" in a contrasting color located within or above the top handhold position; a 1" circular band indicating the maximum top handhold position with the position being determined by the manufacturer. Prior to the competition, the coach must verify that all of the school's pole vaulters meet these requirements."

REGARDING ELIGIBILITY: High school coaches should check with their respective state and national associations for their high school rules. Only eligible high school students from state-sanctioned high schools will be permitted to compete in the high school meet. Canadian High School athletes will not be entered unless they represent a sanctioned High School. High School entries can only be submitted by a duly authorized coach - no entries from individual athletes or parents will be accepted. These eligibility rules will be strictly enforced in order to comply with the NFHS sanctioning rules.

LIMITATION OF COMPETITION: Because the large number of athletes expected to participate in the 2014 Dartmouth Relays, there are entry standards and limits on a number of events. However, every effort will be made to accommodate as many athletes as possible.

PACKET INFORMATION: Packets will be available to coaches at the athlete entrance to Leverone Field House (the northwest entrance nearest the football stadium). Packets will include meet information, last-minute schedule changes (if any), relay cards, and athlete bib numbers. Check your packet immediately for any errors or discrepancies and report those immediately to the packet tables.

COMPETITOR NUMBERS: Each participant in the 2014 Dartmouth Relays will be assigned a unique competitor number. For all running events, please wear numbers on the front. All members of a relay team need to wear a number. All field event athletes are also required to wear their assigned number on either the front or back. Any athlete that does not wear their assigned number in individual events will automatically be disqualified!!

EVENT CHECK-INS: For Field Events, check-in is at the event venue up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. For running events, ALL check-ins are at the clerk's tables located next to the Sprint starting area on the east end of the field house. All running athletes, including relays, must check in at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their event. Failure to check in may result in you not be allowed to compete. All Relay Cards must be turned in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each event.

RELAY CARDS: Relay cards will be in the team packets. Please have the team's coach submit the card at the clerk's check-in table. Seeding will, however, be done based upon seed times given during initial entry.

JEWELRY & UNIFORM RULES: For High School events, the NFHS Jewelry and Uniform rules WILL be enforced.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES: For safety reasons, electronic devices of any kind, including cell phones, PDA's, iPods, etc., are prohibited on the track and in the infield.

RESULTS: Results will posted as soon as possible after event on the wall next to the Trainer's room at the south end of Leverone Field House. Real-time results will also be posted on www.lancertiming.com as they happen.

AWARDS: The Awards table will be located in front of the track coaches' office. Awards may be picked up AFTER the results have been posted.
