When it comes to recruiting Granite State athletes, University of New Hampshire women's track coach Casey Carroll calls it "guarding our backyard."
"We pursue the New Hampshire athletes aggressively, very aggressively," said Carroll, a 1994 UNH graduate and former men's track team member. "There are some great athletes that come out of New Hampshire, and years ago a lot of them would leave the state; recently more of them are staying here and contributing greatly."
