On The Bubble: 10 Girls XC Runners On The Verge Of Flo50

Athlete: Mary Hennelly
School: Suffern, NY
Graduation Year: 2020

Mary Hennelly is one of the nation's most promising young distance runners alongside fellow New Yorker Katelyn Tuohy. Both girls have been around the national scene for a few years, but are only just now entering their freshman year of high school. Hennelly, part of a strong program at Suffern High School, actually fared better than track star Tuohy in cross country as an eighth grader last fall: she was fifth at the New York State Championships, fourth at the New York Federation Championships, fifth at the NXN New York Regional and 39th at NXN. She set PBs in all events on the track this year (2:14.18 800m, 4:37.76 1500m, 10:00.51 3K, 6:46.84 2K steeple) and placed third in the steeplechase at the New York State Championships.
