National Weekend Rundown for May 28

Noah Lyles Runs 9.48 Hand Timed 100m!

Is Noah Lyles ready to break the national high school record in the 100m?

The junior from T.C. Williams High School in Virginia has said so aloud since last summer, when he won the USATF Jr. Nationals in No. 4 all-time 10.14. The wind-legal record is 10.00, per North Carolina native Trentavis Friday in 2014.

Lyles technically tied that time on Friday. He won the Virginia Group 6A North Region Championship with a hand-timed clocking of 9.48 (!), which converts to 10.14.
