Weekend Wrap-up: Several star at Ocean State, Manchester & Bowdoin!!!

Right here in our home state, more than 5,000 runners were at Goddard State Memorial Park for the annual Ocean State Invitational. The high school portion of the meet on Saturday produced two individual winners.

In the Freshmen 2 race, North Kingstown's promising ninth-grader Sam Toolin dominated the field with a wire-to-wire victory and winning time of 12 minutes, 54 seconds for the 2.5-mile course. Toolin, who won back-to-back state crowns in middle school, is following a similar path as current La Salle Academy junior D.J. Principe, who incidentally captured individual honors at the Bowdoin X-C Classic in New York with a sub 16-minute clocking.
