The Greely girls had a strong run at the Manchester Invitational on Saturday as the Rangers finished as the team runner-up in the small schools race. Leading the way for Greely was junior Katherine Leggat-Barr & freshman Carolyn Todd. Leggat-Barr placed 7th (19:23) while Todd was a stride behind in 8th (19:25).

Greely was the top Maine school overall with Yarmouth coming in 8th, followed by Fryeburg Academy & Freeport in 9th & 10th respectively. Yarmouth would have place hugher if #2 runner Anneka Murrin did have an asthma issue which caused her to stop.


The Greely boys has a strong showing at the Manchester Invitational as well. The Rangers finished 3rd overall in the small school race with 210 points. Greely got personal best runs out of Ryan Morrison 16:38 in 9th & Kyle Hansen 16:59 in 14th to lead the way.

Greely was by far the top Maine team with the third place finish.Yarmouth the next best team in 12th, followed by Freeport in 16th, and then Fryeburg Academy in 27th. Freeport was without #1 runner Chandler Vincent who missed the meet due to a foot injury.


Yarmouth sophomore Luke Laverdiere went for the win in the boys small school race leading until the final 600m before being caught by eventual winner Cameron Daly (Inter-Lakes, NH). Laverdiere would go on to finish second running a personal best 16:03 for 5k. That time lowers his state leading performance.

Freeport's Henry Jaques continued to drop his time with another personal best of 16:28 to place 7th. He was followed by Greely's Ryan Morrison in 9th (16:38). Greely's Kyle Hansen broke 17 minutes for the first time as he sneaked under in 16:59, right behind him in 15th was Patrick Carty of Fryeburg Academy


Abby Hamilton of Yarmouth went back and forth with Katherine Leggat-Barr throughout the 5k course but was able to pull away in the last 400m to cross the finish line in 6th place with a new personal best and state leading time of 19:18.

Right behind Hamilton was the two Greely Rangers, as Katherine Leggat-Barr crossed in 7th (19:23) while Carolyn Todd was a stride back in 9th (19:25). Fryeburg's Emily Carty had a solid run placing 14th (19:52) her teammate Anna Lastra (20:01) finished in 18th. While Kent's Hill Anne McKee rounded out the top 20 in 20:11.
