Day 4 AM Session Recap: Tara Davis Highlights Day Four AM Session

Tara Davis jumped 6.24m (20-5.75) two qualify second overall in the long jump.

Highlighting the AM qualifiers for Team USA was Tara Davis of Agoura, CA. The rising junior jumped 6.24m (20-5.75) to win Group A, and qualified second overall in the Long Jump. Davis will also be competing in the triple jump later tonight. She's going into the event ranked third with her jump of 13.01m (42-8.25).

Symone Mason hands off to Cory Poole in the mixed 4x400m relay. Team USA ran a 3:22.65 to qualify first overall.

In the mixed 4x400m, combining guys and girls, the team of Keshun Reed (TX), Symone Mason (FL), Cory Poole (NJ), and Lynna Irby (IN) ran a 3:22.65 to qualify with the fastest time overall, winning by more than six seconds over the second place team in their heat.

Team USA has nine medals up to this point and will be looking for more tonight with ten finals scheduled for the PM session. In the 400m hurdles Sophomore National Record holder Sydney McLaughlin of Union Catholic, NJ will be chasing gold as she comes in with the fastest qualifying time of 55.28. Brandeé Johnson of Nansemond River (VA), will also be looking to finish in the top three.

Adrian Piperi qualified for the discus in fifth overall throwing 58.62m (192-03.75). The rising junior will be looking to get his second medal tonight after winning gold in the shot put on day one.

In the discus both Adrian Piperi of The Woodlands, TX, and Gabriel Oladipo of Fort Bend Hightower, TX will be looking to step on the medal stand, after qualifying just out of the top three in fifth and sixth respectively. Piperi won gold on the first day of the Championships in the shot put with a U.S. Youth Record throw of 22 meters (72-2.25).

Carson Dingler of First Presbyterian Day School, GA and Rachel Baxter of Canyon High School Anaheim Hills, CA will be also be fighting for a spot on the podium in the Women's Pole Vault. Dingler cleared 3.90m (12-9.50) to advance while Baxter cleared 3.80m (12-5.50) to advance to these finals.
