MEREDITH – Most teams had left the Division III track and field championships, but Kearsarge remained behind. The boys’ discus event had not yet finished and the Cougars were holding onto the title by a mere half point over Monadnock with top throwers from both teams yet to compete. But the yell that echoed around the mostly empty Inter-Lakes track after the final results were posted could only mean one thing: The Kearsarge boys had just won their first ever state title.
